2023-30 AMEND ANY AND ALL PRIOR STEP RANGE CHARTS

2023-30 AN ORDINANCE TO RE-ESTABLISH AND AMEND ANY AND ALL PRIOR STEP RANGE CHARTS FOR THE POSITIONS INCLUDING, WATER DEPARTMENT CLERK AND BUILDING DEPARTMENT CLERK, EFFECTIVE UPON PASSAGE OF THIS ORDINANCE.

WHEREAS, the Vermilion City Council favorably at their meeting of April 17, 2023, motioned to have legislation prepared to re-establish and amend any and all prior step range charts for the positions including Water Department Clerk and Building Department Clerk, effective upon passage of this ordinance.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Vermilion, Counties of Erie and Lorain, State of Ohio:

SECTION 1: That the Vermilion City Council hereby re-establishes and amends any and all prior step range charts for the positions including, the following effective upon passage of this ordinance:

Water Department (Utility) Clerk                   Range 8

Building Department Clerk                            Range 8

Water Department Utility Clerk employees actively employed at the effective date of this ordinance and who have passed the required Civil Service Examination shall be placed at Step 6, and Step 7 on January 1, 2024.  Any new employee who has passed the required Civil Service Examination on or after May 1, 2023, shall be hired at Step 1 and advance one step every six (6) months until Step 4 is reached.

Building Department Clerk employees actively employed at the effective date of this ordinance and who have passed the required Civil Service Examination shall be placed at Step 6, and Step 7 on January 1, 2024.  Any new employee who has passed the required Civil Service Examination on or after May 1, 2023, shall be hired at Step 1 and advance one step every six (6) months until Step 4 is reached.  

SECTION 2: That the Director of Finance is hereby authorized and directed to make payment of any amendatory wages from and after the passage of this ordinance.                      

SECTION 3:   This Council finds and determines that all formal actions of this Council concerning and relating to the passage of this Ordinance were taken in an open meeting of this Council and that all deliberations of this Council and of any committees that resulted in those formal actions were in meetings open to the public and in compliance with all requirements including Section 121.11 of the Ohio Revised Code.

SECTION 4:  That this Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest allowed by law.
