2023-62 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR OF THE CITY OF VERMILION, OHIO TO RECEIVE A SUBSIDY FROM BROWNHELM TOWNSHIP, LORAIN COUNTY, OHIO FOR EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES THROUGH THE CITY OF VERMILION’S CONTRACT WITH LIFECARE AMBULANCE, INC. OF ELYRIA, OHIO FOR THE PERIOD OF JANUARY 1, 2024, THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2024.
WHEREAS, the City of Vermilion has entered into a contract with Lifecare Ambulance, Inc. of Elyria, Ohio to provide emergency medical services for the benefit of the residents of the City and Brownhelm Township,
WHEREAS, Brownhelm Township has agreed to make payments to the City of Vermilion for such service,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Vermilion, Counties of Erie and Lorain, State of Ohio:
SECTION 1: That the Mayor of the City of Vermilion, Ohio be hereby authorized and directed to enter into a contract on behalf of the City with the Township of Brownhelm, Lorain County, Ohio to provide emergency medical services to the residents of Brownhelm Township and receive a subsidy from Brownhelm Township for emergency medical services through Lifecare Ambulance, Inc. per the terms and conditions of the Ambulance Service Agreement between the City of Vermilion and Lifecare Ambulance, Inc. in accordance with Ordinance 2018-86 passed by Vermilion City Council on January 28, 2019. Said contract shall become effective January 1, 2024, and will terminate December 31, 2024, and shall only be renewed through mutual agreement of both parties.
SECTION 2: Subsidy to be paid by the Township of Brownhelm shall be in the amount of Eighteen Thousand Four Hundred Eighteen Dollars and Eighty-Five Cents ($18,418.85) per annum for the term of this Contract.
SECTION 3: This Council finds and determines that all formal actions of this Council concerning and relating to the passage of this Ordinance were taken in an open meeting of this Council and that all deliberations of this Council and of any committees that resulted in those formal actions were in meetings open to the public and in compliance with all legal requirements, including Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code.
SECTION 4: That this Ordinance is declared to be an emergency for the public peace, health, and safety of the City; wherefore, this Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its passage and approval of the mayor, providing it meets the statutory requirements for passage; otherwise, it shall take effect and be enforced from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
