2024R-10 WATER QUALITY IMPROVEMENT GRANT FUNDING THROUGH ODNR

2024R-10 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ERIE SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION DISTRICT OF SANDUSKY, OHIO TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION THROUGH THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR THE WATER QUALITY IMPROVEMENT PROJECT AT SHEROD PARK IN VERMILION, OHIO, THROUGH THE H2OHIO WETLAND GRANT PROGRAM AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

 

WHEREAS, The City of Vermilion desires to seek grant funding through the Ohio Department of Natural Resources; and

 

WHEREAS, the State of Ohio, through the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, administers financial assistance for water quality improvement projects, through the H2Ohio Wetland Grant Program.

 

WHEREAS, the City of Vermilion, Ohio desires H2Ohio funding.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERMILION, OHIO, ERIE COUNTY, OHIO:

 

SECTION 1: That the Erie Soil and Water Conservation District is hereby authorized to file an application for H2Ohio Wetland Grant Program on behalf of the City of Vermilion.

 

SECTION 2: That Marc Weisenberger, Parks Operation Supervisor is hereby authorized and directed to execute and file an application with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and to provide all information and documentation required to become eligible for possible funding.

 

SECTION 3:  That the Erie Soil and Water Conservation District does agree to obligate the funds required to satisfactorily complete the proposed project and become eligible for reimbursement under the terms and conditions of the H2Ohio Wetland Grant Program.

 

SECTION 4:  This Council hereby finds and determines that all formal actions relative to the adoption of this Resolution were taken in an open meeting of this Council, and that all deliberations of Council, and of its committees, which result in the formal action, were taken in full compliance with the applicable legal requirements.

 

SECTION 3: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure, the emergency being the necessity of meeting the deadline application submittal to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources by July 19, 2024; thus for the public peace, health, and safety of the City; wherefore, this Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its passage and approval of the Mayor, providing it meets the statutory requirements for passage; otherwise, it shall take effect and be enforced from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
